What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your Visit to British Footcare Group
We understand that visiting a foot care clinic for the first time can feel uncertain. Our aim is to make your experience as clear, comfortable and straightforward as possible. Whether you are attending for routine foot care or a more specific concern, our team will guide you through every step of your appointment.
Step 1: Arrival
- You will be welcomed by our reception and guest services team
- Your details will be confirmed
- Any relevant medical information may be checked
We aim to keep waiting times minimal and appointments running smoothly.
Step 2: Clinical Assessment
Your appointment will begin with a clinical assessment, carried out by either a Podiatrist or a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP). This includes:
- Discussion of your concerns
- Review of medical history (where relevant)
- Examination of your feet
This ensures we understand your needs and can recommend the most appropriate treatment.
Step 3: Core Treatment
All appointments include a core foot health treatment, which forms the foundation of your care. This typically includes:
- Nail trimming and care
- Reduction of hard skin (callus)
- General foot health maintenance
Step 4: Identifying Additional Needs
During your appointment, your clinician may identify additional conditions such as:
- Corns
- Verrucae
- Fungal nails
- Ingrown toenails
- Cracked heels
- Biomechanical concerns
If additional treatment is required:
- It will be clearly explained
- You will understand what is involved
- Any additional costs will be discussed before proceeding
You are always in control of what treatment goes ahead.
Step 5: Treatment Delivery
Once agreed, treatment will usually be carried out during the same appointment. All care is delivered in a safe, clinically led environment, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
Step 6: Aftercare & Advice
At the end of your appointment, your clinician may:
- Provide aftercare advice
- Recommend follow-up appointments where needed
- Suggest insoles, orthotics or supporting products
Our aim is to treat the issue and help prevent it returning.
Choosing the Right Clinician
We will always do our best to ensure you are seen by the right clinician for your needs.
You are likely to see a Podiatrist if you have:

- Need for more advanced treatments or procedures
You may see a Foot Health Practitioner for:
- Routine foot care
- Nail cutting and maintenance
- Basic skin (callus) treatment
- Ongoing foot care maintenance
- General foot health support
Other Factors That May Affect Your Appointment
- You may request a specific clinician
- You may prefer a Podiatrist or FHP based on experience
- The appointment type selected
- Availability at the time of booking
- Recommendations from our team
"Our aim is always to match you with the most appropriate clinician from the start."
